October Scholarship and Opportunities Bulletin


George Hansen Fellowship in Geological Sciences (BYU)-This award is available to incoming freshmen who enroll as geology or earth and space science education.  This fellowship is awarded separately from University-wide scholarships at BYU and it usually covers a significant portion of the recipient’s tuition costs.  Applications are due by February 15th.  The application link is:  http://www.geology./byu.edu/Home/news/george-hansen-scholarship.

 

Wendy’s High School Heisman-If you’re a High School senior dedicated to learning, leading and performing, you have what it takes to become a Wendy’s High School Heisman.  Eligibility begins with maintaining a 3.0 g.p.a. or better.  Applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community. Applicants must perform in at least one of the 43 sponsored sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games or the National Federation of State High School Associations.  The application deadline is October 2, 2015.  To apply, go to WendysHeisman.com.

 

Boise State University Showcase-Learn more about Boise State academics, admissions, housing, scholarships and student life at a reception to be held on Wednesday, October 7th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn at 1741 Harrison Street North in Twin Falls.  RSVP at admissions.boisestate.edu/showcase to reserve your spot.

 

Idaho State University Bengal Preview Day-Come find out about becoming a Bengal.   There will be an academic major and student organization fair; lunch and campus tours; sessions to include-admissions, financial aid and scholarships, residential living and test-taking strategies.  This event will be held on Saturday, October 3rd.  Register at isu.edu/preview.

 

Magic Valley College and Financial Awareness Fair-This event will be held on October 27th from 5:30-8:00 p.m. in the gym at Twin Falls High School.  Admission representatives from our region will be available to answer your questions, along with members of various financial institutions.  Breakout sessions re: college athletics, admissions testing, the admissions process, scholarships and financial aid, etc. will also be presented throughout the evening.

 

Boise National College Fair-Find your perfect college with One-Stop Shopping at the Boise National College Fair on Monday, October 19th.  This event will be held from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Expo Idaho.  To register and see a list of colleges that will be in attendance, go to www.gotomyncf.com.

 

Boise Bible College Perspective Day-If you would like to learn more about Boise Bible College, they will be hosting Perspective Day on Friday, November 6th.  For additional information, go to www.boisebible.edu or contact Mike Maglish, Director of Admissions.

 

Lewis Clark State College Discovery Day-Would you like to learn more about Lewis Clark State College?  If the answer is yes, you may want to attend their Discovery Day on Friday, November 6th.  A bus will be provided to transport students from the Magic Valley to Lewiston for this event.  Please stay tuned for additional information.

 

The College of Idaho-Kathryn Albertson Scholarship Competition- This unique event awards several scholarships in varying amounts.  This competition takes place between  January 11-22, 2016 (excluding weekends).  Approximately 225 students compete for these scholarships each year.  Scholarship applicants must be a high school senior, must have applied to the College of Idaho using the Common Application and submit an official high school transcript.  For additional information, see Mrs. Draves in the Counseling Office.

This event will be held on Saturday, November 7th.  Go online to register for this event.  This event fills quickly, so register soon if you would like to attend.  (There may be bus transportation provided for students in the Magic Valley, so listen for additional information.)

Experience Penn-The University of Pennsylvania Admissions Department and Alumni Interview Program will be hosting Experience Penn, a panel discussion regarding the opportunities at the University of Pennsylvania with recent Penn graduates.  The program will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the City Library in Salt Lake City, which is located at 210 E 400 S.  For additional information, go to www.admissions.upenn.edu.
